So the wife and I are finally starting a family. We only have one child at this point. These little buggers require so much junk to go to grandmas house. My wife currently drives a 2004 Grand Cherokee. It is super clean 72,000 miles 4.0. I am thinking of selling it while it is still worth some money. Looking for full size suv. The Sequoia is about the only rig that interests me. Anyone had any experience with one? I know a few guys running Tundras that have really liked them. I am after 2004-2006 close to 100k and I want a SR5 model(I am weird but I dont like leather in cars).

I think Sequoias are great. I know DAA loves his Denali quite a bit (even more than his 100 series land cruiser). The only other rig I'd consider over a sequoia is a 100 series Land Cruiser. They have the 4.7 V8, and they can be made to be quite capable off-road (but parts are $$$$)

Gas mileage sucks on Sequoia, a friend of mine owns one and loves it except for the mileage. Include the Expedition in your search. I just sold my 2008 Expedition Limited with 97K on the ticker but it was loaded with every goody. I absolutely loved it. If my family size required it again, I would get another. I had an 06 as well. They claim that in 2014 the Navigator and Expedition will get the EcoBoost.

Our neighbors have a 2002 Sequioa Limited and it has been flawless for them. They are over 150k. I have done the maintenance on it and it is the same ol quality and ease of maintenance that I've found in my other Toys. You'll love it if not for the mileage. Our neighbors pull down 18mpg avg.

My wife just traded in her minivan for a 2004 Sequoia. They are big but handle great. A lot more comfortable for longer trips. They do use more fuel than the minivan but I think it averages about 17mpg. I like it more than I thought I would.

I have never been impressed with the Expedition. Which is sad cause I am a ford guy. If it had a ecoboost or the new 5.0 liter I might be. Landcruisers are cool but like you said are dang pricey and off road capable are not really important. Wont see more than a dirt road. 15-18 mpgs seems to be the norm.
