My son is interested in this old Chevy (about '47-51 window) ice cream truck as his high school wheels (he is 13 now.)

Looking for ideas and suggestions on getting it not into show condition but decent daily driver.
It was last registered in '65, and was a project vehicle when the current owners got it in '64. Thus I figure drive train is best swapped out and not even attempt to repair. You can fit small block Chevy engines in them (I had a '48 in high school running a 327.) However, it is a very tight fit.
Looking for drive train swap suggestions as well as ideas on frames that may fit fairly easily if where to go that route. 4 wheel drive would be good, but not critical as certainly not going to become a rock crawler.
Frame is 40" wide, about 120" wheel base and total length about 180".
Engine compartment is roughly 32" long, and 32" between inner fender wells, with extra width on top of fenders.
