They never left, the previous generation of Jimny has been in production from 1998 to today. We just haven't been able to get the Jimny in the US since 1995.
Looks awesome, specs are awesome. Solid axles, two speed t-case, ladder frame, coil suspension. Engine options look perfect for its size. This thing is off-road perfection; but it'll never make it to the States.

How odd to put the two next to each other in a comparison. If you are after AC, not getting dusty, and holding hands with other men then I'm pretty sure a SxS isn't what you should be looking at.

This has been the topic du jour on the Kizashi forums for a month or so. While that'd be awesome, there is about a 99% chance that'll never happen! The more likely scenario is Suzuki deciding to come back to the US with just the Swift and Jimny and start from the beginning again as a purveyor of small, cheap, efficient vehicles. But again, doubtful.
