Metabos are SWEEET but you pay for them.

I am loving this Milwaukee I just got. Bearings will need replacement soon enough, but not a big deal. It didn't even warm up when I was beating the hell out of it the other day, sweet!

My last Harbor Freight pawnshop special sucked ass the whole time I had it, and finally caught on fire, not to mention that it ate brushes like they were candy.

I had a H.F. grinder that lasted through about 2 years of hard use. When it died, I replaced it with another H.F. which lasted about 3 weeks. After that, I bought a Dewalt and it's been going strong ever since, probably 2 years now.

Wierd, my 24th craftsman grinder just went out on me 10 minutes ago. I keep buying them cause I get the warranty and end up getting 2 free ones out of it. I kill at least 4 year easily. I might try the harbor freight ones to see how well they can hold up to my abuse.

Shawn.... You need to stop grinding drunk and passing out ontop of the grinder while its running

thats pretty funny right there

Believe it or not, I've had really good luck with Ryobi (home depot). I've punished one of their grinders and a drill for the last three years. They are still going strong.

I also like the fact that Ryobi has a normal trigger on their grinders without a safety or lock to keep it on. Works much better when you just need to bump it a few times and not remove too much material.

Milwaukee,
Mine has outlasted dewalt, craftsmen, and a few harbors. only problem is the safety trigger busted off, go 8.5 a. or bigger. I currently have 4, 4.5 inch grinders dewalt x1 mikita x2 and the 5 year old milwaukee is still the best performing threw the last POS harbor no power freight one in the trash yesterday. When ya weld as bad as I do you learn how to become good with a grinder.

Huh, that's interesting because I burnt up my bro-in-law's milwaukee within a week (I bought him a new one) but my DeWalt is still going strong. Granted, there are atleast two different DeWalts. The one that's all plastic and the one that is part metal. The plastic one sucks, but mine that's metal has been going strong for atleast 5 years now.

I think all this thread is showing us is ever brand has the lemons and every brand has the good ones. However, the Metabo's are sounding pretty consistent. I think for my next one, I'll give one of them a try.

Well, I stuck with the Dewalt. After doing my usual research, I bought one off of ebay for a fair price. It's a 4.5-5" grinder with 13 amps. It's the best one of that size that Dewalt offers. Really, the deal I got off of ebay was only about $20.00 more than the price I was going to pay for the models I was burning up and they were 7.5 amps.

We will see how well it does.

Thanks for all the input!

13 AMPS on a 4.5" is pretty stout! Well done.
