"SWAT teams are on the trail of a suspect who sparked a massive manhunt in Moab. Grand County Sheriff's deputies and Moab police say an officer tried to pull over a car yesterday. The driver pulled off the road, but quickly hit the gas and sped off. He tore through a field, and then ditched his car in a muddy, marsh area near the Colorado River. Several agencies looked for him but to no avail. He's considered to be armed and dangerous. The Department of Corrections is trying to find him because he violated his parole."

I wish they would ask US(ME) for help on these manhunts? It would be fun to sit up on Poison Spider with my Sniper Rifle.....!!

Definitely the gun. I could probably hit him at 4-500, but it would be a sloppy shot LOL.

it's 308, Shrubeck. Pushing the cartridge a bit at 700yds. Lots of correction needed LOL

:D
I have yet to meet anyone who did not shoot professionally that was accurate outside of 500 yds. most can't shoot 200 yds ;)

I hunt with an ex marine sniper who took a coyote on the move at 650

But could he do it twice ;) That's a hell of a shot on a running Coyote. I can consistantly hit small rocks (8''-10'') and bushes from 700-1000 yrds with my .300 Ultra, but I use a 1500 yrd rangefinder and a custom BDC on a Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x50mm Long Range scope. I can only shoot Barnes triple shock 180gr @ 3300fps with it, but I think it will do the job on just about anything :D

I got my gun cheapish in a divorce sale... with a Leupold mildot Uberscope from hell... and since then I have not really had the time to learn the proper use of the mildots... I like the idea but I need to lay down with a box or 5 of ammo and start from scratch. With the stumpy 19.5" barrel (as I did not buy the suppressor with it), it shoots probably 3" at 100yds, not that hot... but with the suppressor it shoots a lot better, at least 1/2 that. so it's either suppressor, new barrel, or a whole new Rem700 PSS-- all are about the same price LOL

that's a DAMN NICE SHOT on that coyote... hooooollly crap.

Muleskinner, I take it that rangefinder is worth the big money then? I have been thinking about one of those... save me all that math with the mildots LOL.... or looking at the MilDot Master... ;)

Nah, they sell for around $400. You should look into the BDC if your scope is of good quality (M4, VXIII, nightforce, or something of that nature) Just range you target, turn the knob to the correct yardage, and watch out! (I shoot long range 1-3 times a week for practice, which kind of helps..)

I took my elk at 320 last year and felt damn good about it. At 650 I didn't even raise my gun. the coyote was moving dead away, but still .
