Mechanics in Utah County

I have been in Utah for years and just bought my first Jeep, aYJ.

It was my old man’s and he got to old to get up into it so I got a great deal. Yeah, I know what you are thinking, but it was not free, more like ½ price. He had it for about 5years and had a lot of custom work done down in Tucson.

Anyway, I am looking for a good all purpose mechanic that knows Jeeps, specifically Wranglers. I’ve read a lot of good things on here about various shops (RockLogic, Mepco, etc.). Thing is I am in Orem and don’t want to have to drive up to SLC for simple maintenance stuff. I will if I have too I guess . . .

Anyone have any positive or negative feedback for shops down in Utah County or give me their recommendations? Unfortunately, doing it myself doesn’t really is not an option because of where I live.

Oh, if this is a much revisited topic, please someone just give me a link. Thanks in advance for all your help!

If it's just simple maintainence, I'm still looking for an honest mechanic around here. If you're looking for custom stuff like a cage built or a link suspension, the only one down here that I would trust is Right Side Up Auto. They're in Lindon, on the west side of the freeway back by the dump. 1464 W 40 S Lindon is their address. There are others like Rocky Mountain High, but I haven't been impressed by them.

If your willing to drive to Sandy/Draper for simple maintainence, I take all my stuff to Hill Side Tire. Its just off the I-15 123000 south exit. They are one of those Gemini/Goodyear service center and they have always served me well. Call Gary 619-6363.

Hmmm, I never thought of Hauns for anything but radiators, but you're right, they do have Jeeps.

Another possible place is Six States.

BTW, Rocky Mountain High 4x4 is no longer in business.

You could try Jakes in pg. I know the guy that manages it. He's a pretty good guy.

Art at Big-O tires in the University Mall parking lot is a great guy who knows his way around a 4x4.
Also Jake, of Jakes auto in Lindon is my uncle, and he is a real honest mechanic.

Thanks for all the input, I'll probably check out Hauns or Jakes because they are really close to me. I was originally going to go to Rocky Mountain, but when I drove past the other day they were gone. Didn't know if they moved or closed. I guess they are closed. Anyway, thanks!

Six States this pretty good. There is other's but from my limited experience ( I usually do work myself) they been best overall place. It is one I've recommended to alot of my friends with Jeep's that don't want to do work themself and I got feedback from them, they did good job.

I second Art at Big-0 and Kevin and Dave over at six-states for driveline, tranny stuff.
If you end up at Big-O and Art isn't around asked for Keith and tell him Brent sent you, his my cousin. I forgot about them, since they mostly do service on my car's. But they do know Jeeps and Broncos also there. Killer Alinement person there, can't remember his name off hand. He got my Tj setup even without having to replace the tierod with some ajustable ones, since I been bit hard on the frontend. <GRIN>
