Catherine & I loaded up the freshly assembled TJ for Memorial Day weekend in Moab. We hung out at the RME BBQ with good friends on Saturday, then on Sunday we hooked up with some of our good wheelin friends to be lead on a new trail out at Area BFE called LockJaw. Jeff (drtsqrl) lead the way, with a fearless Dave (greenjeep) riding along as co-pilot and guide.

LockJaw climbs up a steep hill towards Green Day, it's a constant battle with gravity and any rock & ledge is that much more difficult due to the steep angle.

Staging at the beginning of the trail-

I had to take the bypass on this one, not having a front locker really stopped my progress.-

Pretty steep drop-off, it was about a 3' ledge on an already steep downhill!-

On Monday we got a small group together for the Pickle; Chris & Tara, Shawn & Eliena (sp?), Ben and Cammi and Catherine and I.

Ben did a helluva job on the first big climb on the Pickle, it took a bit of finesse and momentum and he hit the needed balance within a few tries.

Ben and Cammi have been wheeling their TJ hard and often, yet have managed to keep is looking very straight... until today. The last challenge of the day and a big, undercut ledge caught the pass. side fender as the Jeep went up. It was a tight squeeze anyway, but apparently too tight on that one side. They handled the damage like the good sports they are, joked around with each other and played it off. After a few difficult tries, Ben decided it was best to hook up the winch and pull his TJ up the massive ledge and avoid any more damage.

Running/riding along in BFE with you guys was a blast! It was good to see you after so long Greg, and to meet Catherine, Tara, Chris and chilins...

Lockjaw is definately a cool trail... It also provided a great view of all the hippies at their music fest.. Quite the irony to be found at BFE IMO :)

We rolled out of Moab Sunday night, about 10:30pm'ish, set the cruise at 65mph(to try for optimal mpg's in the TDI Vdub).. Only took about 4 hours with a fill up in Green River.

Tara, pizza's on me next time i have the honor of seeing you guys ;)

I've got 2MB's of pics from the entire weekend.. Lot's of pics and videos. I'll try to get some loaded up tomorrow.
