Wow, we got SCREWED...
I finally had the oppirtunity to take some ATV's up this trail today, what a beautful place, secluded, calm, awesome!
The USFS refues to clear winter debris from this trail 10 years ago, making it a OFV (52" and less) trail only. And to boot, it is the only legal trail in SL County...
There were only a couple of spots that needed improvment to get a full-size rig through, all of them could be completed by a small "work-party."
Interestingly enough when we got to the top (Regulator Johnson Mine), a forest service manager came humming up on an ATV... We (EZRhino and I) gave him a good indication of our disgust for the poor managment by the USFS in years past. He agreed that there had been some very poor decisions made in the canyons... After chatting with him, we headed out... come to find out, he was the same guy I had chatted with a couple years ago about re-opening the trail to full-size rigs, and had basically said no.
Those of you with ATV's... GET UP THERE NOW... IT IS AWESOME...
