"mix and match" dream rig?

In a discussion about diesel tow rigs, someone said their dream truck would have the 'drive train of a Dodge, interior of a Ford and ride of a Chevy with the looks of none of them'.

That got me thinking, if we could mix and match parts (which of course many on here do anyway) and feautes of different vehicles, what combinations would you do to create your rig?

And lets be creative here, (sticking an D44 on an XJ....heard that plenty of times).

And if it is something that may actually work, better still but not required.

My idea? A first generation Durrango (love the looks, great for the family and V-8 power) with front and rear axles from a JK Rubicon (e-lockers, and sway bar disconect).

My dream tow rig.

I thought about having a tahoe or yukon and putting it on a 3/4 chevorlet truck frame and then putting in it the HD duramax diesel and having the allison transmission. The comfort of a family rig with the towing of a big truck. That is my dream and I believe it could be accomplished for the right price.:greg::D

I have a buddy in boise with an 02 suburban with the duramax and the allison

It was a custom build. There are some little kinks to work out, but basically take a suburban, add a 3" body lift, get a donor duramax truck, and mix and match the parts.

There are some fuel system bugs to work out, but other than that it really is simple.

My dream truck? Well..............Late 60's Land Rover Pickup (four door, short wheelbase), fuel injected World Products Merlin big block built to 632 ci, ZF six speed tranny from newer Chevy, Atlas 4 speed t-case, Dana 60 centers with Unimog portal outers running ARB's and four wheel discs. Stock style leaf suspension with about 6" lift to clear 40" Boggers/Krawlers. Then I would have to build something to wheel to i guess.............

Hmm.

12" narrower Blazer with a 60, shaved 14bolt, and a 25mpg 454 with like 400hp and some comp-compound tires that didn't wear out on the street, with factory clearance at the firewall for 40's.

Barring that, I'd like my tow rig finished by the Truck Elves: Cummins 6bt w/no electronics, an Allison/205, 19.5" Alcoas, some Michelin tires to go with them, and the interior from a newer Suburban in there.

I have a few dream machines that I would love to have. The first one is my Mitsubishi Pickup I am getting fixed up with a propane injected turbo diesel and JK Rubicon axles and front coilovers. It is coming along nicely. To my knowledge, this has never been done before.

I also would like to make a 2wd replica of the 1983 John Baker baja truck that won the class 7 series in the Baja 500. I even like the paint job. What can I say, I like these little Mitsubishi mini trucks.
