Moab baby!!

In honor of Shane-apalooza and a fabulous fall weekend, we made the trek to Moab this weekend for some top notch rock crawling. It was a hoot!! :tara: We meet up with Herzog on Friday morning and after transfering a pretty new Stak into my truck, we were off to Pritchett. The weather was absolutely perfect and the trees are just starting to change there. We enjoyed a leisurely drive up the canyon and were joined by Chadschoon and the lovely Mrs. Chad right at the Rock Pile.

Day two: Coyote Canyon

Saturday was sunny and beautiful as well so we all headed out to BFE for a playdate. We started our morning on Coyote with Chad and Chelsea, Kelly and Brandie, Sean and Jared, and Dominic, Mindy, and Tully. That trail just rocks although I did get taken for a ride by the first obstacle. Lemon Joy just does NOT like that obstacle and I cannot for the life of me find a good line up it. I either need bigger tires or a shorter wheel base. Drive me crazy!! After multiple attempts and some rock stacking, I called upon William the winch and was soon on my way happily up the ravine. :) Everyone was bumping along nicely just enjoying the day and everyone's company when Kelly decided he couldn't contain the crazy squirrels he keeps trapped under the hood of that Toyota. Here are the results.....

After getting Kelly righted, cleaned up, and eating some lunch, we continued on our merry way.....

And now here's the picture of me screaming like a girl when Lemon Joy decided she wanted to lay down on the rock.....

Nice

That is why you keep the spare aired down.

After a brief stop at the Kel Camp to regroup and eat some yummy sandwiches, we were off to LockJaw. Somehow I ended up in the lead and boldly approached the first obstacle confident in Lemon Joy. Holy monkeys has it gotten dug out!! The ledges are pretty big now and for a big girl like LJ, it's a nasty double whammy that kept bouncing her big ole bahookie around. After trying various lines and random amounts of the skinny pedal, my very short attention span was shot and I had a new plan!! :D I was going to drive up the wall on the left. Yes, it's steeper than sin, but dang it, there was a ramp for my passenger side and by golly, I have 113 inches of wheel base. No worries! Boy, was I WRONG. In no time at all, I was on my side laying in the arms of a very kind tree. It was awkward.

Thankfully, after minimal pointing and laughing, Chris and everyone got on the strap and held me down while I backed off. After backing off, I promptly hopped out, reclaimed the camera and my two dogs and became a spectator. After Chad and Chris both made fairly clean runs up the uglyness, Sean's turn came.

Sean hit his head pretty badly on the cage when he went because he was trying to hold himself up to avoid smooshing his sister who was riding passenger. Fortunately, a little Ibprofun and a brief rest cured what ailed him and off we went to conquer Helldorado.

Lemon Joy is ginormous!

Shane's buggy is so skinny that Tanner heaved him off of Breakover rock by himself....

By the time we made it to the Waterfall, it was getting dark so no more pictures. Shane, Chris, and Chad all made very noble attempts at that nasty bugger, but it wasn't meant to be. Tanner went next and ended up rolling into the hole a few times. Then to no one's surprise, after one attempt, Kelly walked right up the Waterfall. Thrilling for everyone but his poor third member who got all the studs sheared off.....

You got some GREAT photos Tara! Most definently an exciting weekend for everyone there! :)

For our last day of fun and since Chad's sister in law was riding shotgun on her first ever rock crawling adventure, we wanted something sassy. I'm pretty infatuated with Coyote right now and thankfully, The Chad is a mellow fellow who is quite easy to get along with and gave into my whim of running Coyote again. :tara:

My nemisis. I HATE that obstacle. William was once again a gentleman and drug me off. Sheesh.

Such happy campers!! :D

After Coyote we ran up Minor Threat and up the ravine on Green Day. It was a fairly uneventful jaunt until near the end when Chris decided to drive down some ledges. A seemingly good plan until his front tire hit a rock, consequently launching his rear end up in the air. Fortunately for all involved, The Chad is a generous soul who immediately got on the tow strap and sacrificed himself to being drug through the dirt so Lemon Joy could drive over said rock and not go careening onto her lid. Thank you Chadrick! :) I was too fumboozled to snap a picture, plus my battery was dead, but Ashley got one so once I get that I'll post it up.

And there was our weekend! We dined at Zax's that evening and formulated our next million dollar money making scheme and called it a stellar weekend!

It was wicked fun being trip photographer, I believe I snapped off about 273 pics! I had one of the best Moab weekends ever! My wife ROCKS! She is ready for anything that is put in front of her! She took lines that I have been too timid to try and then walked them! I'm not worthy... :hickey:
