Finally got down into the La Sals on a Moab trip... simply amazing. We were up over 10,000 at the base of Mount Peale. Stopped by Medicine Lake and had lunch near Beaver Lake. I can't beleive how gorgeous that area is. I was in the Uintas last weekend, and I could swear I was back... tall pines, little lakes, HUGE aspens. I am going back. There are several passes over 10k and lots of side trails we didn't have time to explore.

I was down there for a family reunion, we rented a Unimog for all the folks that were rigless... we had a picnic with nearly 60 people right up top :D

I will return soon.. :D

I'm jealous. As many times as I've been to Moab, I have never made it up to the La Sals. It looks incredible from the pics I've seen. Aspens, opened meadows... wish I was closer, I'd go this weekend!

Ive probably been to Moab 30 times before my wife and I ever cruised up there its awesome..we were always with groups of wheelers and had trails scheduled and never had time to go explore, so we went down there for a week and just checked out everything that we had not checked out when we were with our friends. all the parks, la sals, dead horse, hole n rock,monument..and had a blast.

I love the La Sal's! That's were I sneek away to, to escape the crowds. There are a couple place were you can go over the top to the other side....very cool views. Lots of mines and cabins up there. Been to one area 3 times during the summer and still never been able to get past a snow drift to see where the road goes.
It is very similar to the Uintas.
let's plan a trip Curt!!

Kurt, what day were you up there? We went up last Saturday (July 23rd) with about 10 rigs. Went up La Sal Pass to Medicine Lake, then back home over Geyser Pass. Great way to beat the heat!
