For a quick, short trip to Moab two weeks ago, we had a blast. Too bad we couldn't get a few more Forbidden members to join us. It was UEA weekend and the trails and town were busy but the weather was fan-freakin'-tastic. High's in the mid 60's with lows in the high 30's/low 40's. Couldn't ask for any nicer weather.
Jared was also able to have his LJ done and it was his first time taking it to Moab. He had permagrin the entire time. I was happy to see all of his research, planning and execution of his Jeep build pay off. He drove it down, following Chrystal and I in the coach flat-towing our JKU. He was exstatic to be able to cruise down @ 65 mph, wheel it for two full days and then drive it @ 65 mph back home and it was ready to take to school on Monday morning. He said it was exactly what he built it for. Although we didn't do any real hardcore trails while we were down there we did see some beautiful scenery.
We drove down on Thursday afternoon arriving around 6:00 pm and checked into Portal RV Park. Friday we headed out to Blue Hills road north of town, aired down and ran Hidden Canyon, Tusher Tunnel and then on the way back home tool Long Canyon which we had never done before. We both wanted pictures of our Jeeps going under that small fallen rock tunnel on Long Canyon. It was actually a beautiful drive at late afternoon before dusk.

On Saturday we headed out to Dome Plateau. This is one of my wife's favorite trails. We ran it for the first time in May when we were in Moab for an RV rally and she fell in love with the spectacular views.

Both our Jeeps parked at La Boca Arch, our lunch stop for the day.

Both our Jeeps parked while we explore Cave Springs. This is just before the mining camp and then the dirt highway heading back to Hwy 128. Although there must have been some major rains down in Moab over the past few weeks as there were some washes across the road that were not there in May.
Overall it was a fun short weekend of wheeling in Moab. We always wish we had more time but we will take any time in Moab we can get. We were fortunate this year as this was our fourth trip for the year. I don't know if we will top that next year. We only have two planned this far, but then again this one was kind of a spur of the moment trip. The wife and I weren't 100% sure we could juggle our work schedules around to make this trip happen.
