oh hey guys! i havent been on here for a while, but i figure i will start a build thread about my new project.

the goal is a super simple basic cheap toyota and compete in the mod stock delta competitions as well as a few werocks and a possible BOR race.

ive learned a bunch from my last 2 builds, my 4runner, and my 91 ifs truck. From my 4runner i learned that expensive parts like hi pinion elockers, spendy tcase parts and front axle parts are cool.. but still break. i learned that a big powerful motor is awesome! but doesnt help a whole lot for technical rock crawling. simplicity and reliability is more useful. i learned from my ifs truck that a simple, low, stable, ifs, truck with just dual cases, and welded diffs, on small tires can actuall keep up with big build rigs suprisingly well, expect to break a lot of parts.. lifetime warrenty at checker is your best friend!

this build im going with a bit of both.

front axle:
arp knuckle studs
dirty thirty axle shafts
welded 4cly third

rear axle
welded 4cly third

steering:
high steer
hydro assist

motor:
stock 22re

tranny:
w56

tcase:
4.7 gears
maybe also dual case? i have an adapter but not sure if i need to?
rear driveline disconect
rad design or possibly my own make of triple stick

tires
35(what ever i can get)
17 inch bead locks

6 point roll cage
corbou seats
tube doors
low profile bumpers and sliders
window nets
fuel cell
front and rear suck down winches

i bought the donor truck off a buddy. it is a standerd cab 2nd gen truck. it already has the 4.7 gears in the tcase, high steer, some suspension, and is already bobbed but as most previously built trucks go, its in need of some tlc, i will post pics soon

so far LOW RANGE OFF ROAD has been awesome to me! they sponsored the front axle parts. i highly recomend them, the guys down there, as many of you know are super cool and great to work with! I'm also looking for more sponsors, and as always I can promise you, I will make sure your stickers and product are seen!

Sounds like a great build. Low range has been amazing for me as well. And it's pretty cool that they have just about every TG part in stock. Will you be running the new TG rear disconnect?

I would love to run the new trail gear disconnect, I camped with and spent some time with the trail gear guys at king of the hammers and learned a bit about it. The part seems to be extremely well built. I ran the trail tough disco last time I competed, it never gave me any major problems and was much cheaper but I still felt like I paid to much for what I got(and I got a competitor discount) we will see

already has a 4.7 tcase, high steer, and what looks like trailgear rear springs. it sits too high for what i want but it might work out well with suck down winches... also it is in sever need of green paint!

in my opinion the arp studs are the best thing you can do to your toyota under $200

A bit more progress tonight... I decided to replace the rear axle with the one out of my 91 ifs truck because it already has the traction bar mounted to it.. I need to power wash it still but I got a little carried away... Looks like ill have to do that while it's On the truck

I also played with the brakes a bit, I got rid of the old 4cly brake booster/mc to make way for the v6/fj80 set up

I also by passed the equalizer thingy... Direct braking to al four corners

I picked up a set of 17 inch bead locks today not the prettiest but I think the giant face might actually give some sort of "rockodynamic" advantage :D
