Monster makes me shake. Alternatives?

What are some other good energy drinks? Red Bull is ok, but the less I have in common with Dustin Webster, the better.

Normally, I rarely ever drink carbonated drinks, let alone caffeinated stuff. However, when I work 12 hour graveyard shifts over the weekend, sometimes I get a little sleepy. Since I operate a water treatment plant, it is imperative that I stay alert, so I will usually drink a Monster. It does a heck of a job keeping me awake, but it makes me light headed and shaky.

Anyone have any recommendations?
I need something that won't melt my teeth or get me in trouble with the home teachers, so mixing it 50/50 with Everclear is out.

you could try that 5 hour energy shot stuff in the little 2 oz. bottle... My personal favorite is Rockstar (the original one) or my second favorite would be the Rockstar Zero (in the blue can, its 0 sugar and 0 carbs but it still gives a good energy boost)

I don't know...maybe WATER?!??! I know its ground breaking and all but yeah...works pretty good!

Since I work at a water treatment plant, I have plenty of that around and I stay pretty well hydrated. But how does it help keep you awake?

Are you suggesting I drink so much I can't possibly get tired 'cause I'll have to take a leak every 10 minutes?

I to liked original Rockstars. Amp was my second favorite. I was drinking 4 or 5 a day when we were getting ready for Top Truck. After TTC I would start my morning with one and thats it. Since I dont have any money anymore I havent been drinking energy drinks for about 2 months. Ive lost 6 pounds and I feel a lot better. I can also fall asleep a lot easier. They are very bad for you.

My guess is if one makes you shake they all will. If you dont drink a lot of caffeine then you drink a lot instantly it will for sure make you shake. I think Monster is low on the caffeine list to. If you got to have something, try the 5 hour energy shot that was talked about earlier. At least it doesnt have a billion calories

Energy drinks do get a bad rap. And there are some out there that shouldn't be on the market. If you are caffeine sensitive, then you need to find something else. Some people are some people aren't. I'm not. I like some of them, some I don't care for. I do prefer the sugarless, low carb versions. Admittedly, I also get the 24 ounce cans, I like being able to put a lid on through the morning.

Water, not just when you are trying to stay awake, does help. Ice cold works quite well.

What you might try is the mentioned Monster Zero carb. Maybe you are geting too much of the sugar? But if Redbull doesn't bother you so much, see what others come on that 8 ounce can. Also, the 5 hour shots aren't bad and do give a bit of a boost.

I will tell you one to steer very clear of if Monster gives you the shakes. Redline. That one gives ME the shakes.

drowsiness is a symptom of dehydration. That is why water is the ultimate energy drink. But in times that you need some energy with flavor, my favorite is Monster Khaos, but I also like to throw in a Full Throttle Blue Demon for a change. I like the Khaos because it taste like carbonated orange juice instead of a smarty.

proper diet and sleep.

I am up at 5:30 and return home at 6:45-7PM five days a week. No coffee, soda, never touched an energy drink. It can be done.

FWIW, apple juice (preferably martinellis) works far better than coffee, and is also good for you;)

Try this

Maybe if you ate something when you had your energy drink it would lessen the shakes. I have found that when I am driving great distances that a bag of sunflower seeds will keep me busy, thus not drowsy.

You're all WEAK SAUCE!
I vote amp. It has less caffeine than most, and actually tastes good.

Tiredness is not a sign of dehydration, it's a sign of being up for 30+ hours, and water won't help that.
