Alright, pretty sure I have made the decesion to invest in my Montero instead of buying a seperate trail rig (unless I stumble upon a great deal before I get the work done).

So, looking for info on products and shops (a mechanic I am not).

Vehicle is an 03 Montero Sport, 3.5l

Ideas at this point include lift of about 3" or so, selectable rear locker and if funds allow limited-slip up front.

Any leads will be appreciated.

Thanks for the leads. I e-mailed 4x4extremesports yesterday.

Seems like you spent alot of time searching for me for someone who cannot figure out who they are!

an additional question

As I sit around work thinking (too slow to be doing actual work), I got thinking of another question to toss around.

With IFS (assuming a SAS will be too many $$$), if I was to lock (selectable) either front or rear, not both, which makes the most sense to do?

Front locker would make up alot of the limitations of IFS (of course not all), but on slick/icy roads is not the best for safe handling. Right?

Thoughts anyone?

Selectable (since it's a DD) and definatley in the rear axle. If you're going up an obstacle most of the weight, and therefore traction, will be on the rear tires. Plus you won't deal with steering issues.

I would try just the rear first, then go to the front after you think you need it. I bet you will do fine with just a rear and some lift/skids...

All good points. For sure want selectable. Now I just need any of the shops out there I have tried to contact to return my messages so I get some prices and work down!
