Can't answer your question but I'm curious how your Montero Sp. handled Poison Spyder (your sig pic)? I like the way they look. What mods are on yours?

I was pretty nervous about taking it up poison spider, it did a lot better than I thought. It is a 1999 Monetro Sport XLS completely stock, the engine is a 3.0 liter V6. When I replaced the tires 10,000 miles +- ago, I even replaced them with the same tires that came stock (265/75R15 yokohama super diggers). We learned that they hold up to their name and DIG in the sand instead of drive. The only trouble I had with it was the open rear dif. Because of the open dif and the superdiggers, It took a couple of tries to get all 4 tires on the rock on the waterfall, there was another section not to far above the waterful that hung us up for awhile, finally about the time Doug threatened to get out the tow strap some guys on 4 wheelers showed up to watch. So I gave it one more shot and was able to get all 4 tires on the wall and up it. Once on slickrock it had no problems. You can bet the first modificated will be a rear dif locker. Does anyone know anything about the dif lockers for it? Mitsibishi offers one that I believe is an electric one. I was wondering if that would be the best option?

Before poison spider we took it over fins and things and had no problems there. It even did Kens climb, piece of cake. Power is not an issue in that vehicle. I dont know why anyone would need the 3.5 liter Mitsubishi offers except for towing boats or something. We also did Nerd Gate and Klondyke bluff which were no problem.

im curious about the vehicle in you avatar. tell us about it.

It's just an old 1990 XJ. 4.5" lift, 31x11.5 Kumho MT's (that I really like), skids, 4.10's and a stock Trac Lok in the rear. Works pretty well for having 300k miles on it.
The pic is from the Golden Spike trail. That day we did Gold Bar rim to the top, down Golden Spike to the crack and back out the same way.

I know you may get a better response on 4x4wire.com They have a fairly active Mitsubishi section. Most of them driver Monty's but I am sure they can give you advice on mods and were to get them. I would think you could probably find an ARB locker for the rear, but I am not 100% on that.

Thank you very much, I just posted there as well.
