OK, I've got about 3 days on my Vista machine. Overall, it's OK, but man has it got some funkyness in some places. I've found most of my annoyances and fixed them, but can't find one setting. I need to get rid of the OS babysitter. Half the time when I select something even remotely related to the machine it asks "windows needs your permission to continue". I'd like to give it permanent permission under my user name.

Anybody found that setting yet? (breaking open a few search engines):hickey::hickey:

There's a setting to turn it off... I can't remember where it's at though, I'm not on vista. It's pretty annoying.

What an annoying, babysitting type of OS... Try to uninstall or delete something... How come a user as an 'administrator' doesn't have 'root' access. I guess I get to figure out how to be 'SU' on my machine.

One of the things I don't like about a Mac, put on steriods on a PC. Wasn't there a job opening at a body shop somewhere I saw? :D

I just fell out of my chair:eek: Ollie is giving computer advive to MarcB....The world is surely coming to an end soon....Been nice knowing y'all.

As great as that advice was, that just takes me to where I was already. It's still babysitting my user name. It's really not far from getting taken off my machine, but one day I'll actually have to support this pile of junk, bloated OS.

And people wonder why I put Ubuntu on my home box instead of reinstalling XP...:rofl::rofl: It's nice when SU actually will do something for you... :D

Open source has never looked better to me. It looks like I've got a fairly steep learning curve for Vista, I might as well spend my time in something that makes sense.
