Motel 6 in Moab

Just wanted to mention what happened to me at Motel 6 last weekend. I called a month beforehand to get reservations for Nov 27th, 28th, and 29th, check in Thursday (Thanksgiving) and check out Sunday.

When I realized I wouldn't have the buggy finished I called the hotel on Wednesday (26th) and said, I won't be able to make it tomorrow, can I cancel for tomorrow night. The guy said that would not be a problem and asked if I was still coming for Friday and Saturday night. I confirmed we would still be coming and he told me we were all set.

I was running late and my son wanted to wheel on Friday so he and a friend went down early. They then went to Motel 6 to check in about 4:30 p.m. The lady at the front desk looked for the reservations, got a funny look on her face (according to Eric) and said, "sorry, those reservations are for next year, not this year, and we're fully booked so we can't help you".

The only thing I can think of is they gave our room away to someone else and gave us that lame story. I'm really pissed and want to do something about it. After I got on the phone with the lady and told her what I thought of the whole situation, and basically called her a liar, they did call and finally found a room handicapped room at another motel but the hassle was something I didn't need at that moment, and will never put up with.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to handle this?

Never stayed there as I'm not a 'motel 6' kind of guy, but a couple of freinds have and had similiar stories to share. So just another reason for me to avoid them in the future....

I almost always stay in a condo when I'm in Moab. About the same price, off the main drag, full kitchen, and a yard with a bbq I can cook on.

when it's just me and maybe one or two others, I'll stay at the Purple Sage condo's.

When I have a group of 4-6, I stay at the Cedar Breaks condos. Some of the CB condo's have 3 singles in one room and a queen in the other.

The prices have gone up in the last couple of years, but it seems like I paid about $80 bucks for the Purple Sage in the busy season, and the CB was like $119 during peak season too.
