I've become my father. I wouldn't have a problem with this video, except for the few times I see them riding up on the walls. Couldn't they be a little more respectful to property? Especially around areas of historical nature? Once they've done this, they will seek bigger and badder adventures...like tipping over hoodoos...

Am I nuts?

I see what you mean. Not sure if it's legal or not.
Would suck for them if they got hurt.

Dont need big tires to have fun.

I'd see your point if it was a natural occurring cave but it's a mine shaft when they are riding up the wall. I think the pictographs are in a different location and it looks bad because the video is stitched together.

This is definitely a bad influence, I love riding my bike always have and I work in a under ground mine, I have day dreamed about riding my bike in the mine or better yet on the super smooth conveyor belts, this would be so fun but add paint ball guns and now it's a new game... there is nothing to hurt in a mine but your self!

Unclear of mine location and how long abandoned. Older shafts can become key wildlife habitat- mostly bats which is one of the reasons some are gated instead of blocked off when closed.

Too little known to say if should be seen as acceptable or not.

It's man made object of recent origin. The damage is already done. The problems of riding on the walls and possibly ruining something is a moot argument seeing that this is not a natural occurring feature, nor is it very old. It looked fun and I would do it.

Thats a rather narrow view of history.

At what point does graffiti and a hole dug in the ground become an artifact. The definition and or a certain amount of time can and will define were we are able to travel off road. If 50 years is the time, most the trails in moab will be off limits. Those backhoe tracks left while searching for uranium are now an artifact and can no longer be traveled by us. Most roads we travel back country are well over 50 years old. There was a recent thread where a few people went into ghost towns. If those man mad digs are an artifact, we will not be able to visit these sites any more by motorized vehicle. It is a double edged sword and I don't have the answers.

I am in total shock that anyone in this community (off road enthusiasts) would have such hard feelings toward preserving and protecting what many would feel as an eyesore... modern mines are completely destroyed and reclaimed, removing and historical evidence of its existance. If we don't responsibly use our land and enjoy it what good is it in the first place...
