According to a flyer I saw the race is 250 miles. So I will need to fuel several times.

I'm only planning on having the 4400 cars do 2 laps, only the fastest classes will do the full 3 laps. That should allow all the finishers in all the classes to cross the line before the sun goes down.

We have had requests for one lap, two laps, and three laps from prospective 4400 racers. Nothing is set in stone until race day, so if anyone has a preference on how many they would like to do please let me know.

I'll have more info for you guys planning your fuel stops at pre-tech. The course is roughly 80 miles, I'll have to look at the map tomorrow and see how many remote pit locations there are.

The 560 horse LS in our MD class 1 averaged just above 5 mpg at V2R. I think 8 is a pretty safe estimate for your toy. I would plan around that if you're unable to go out and test it before the race. Either way you should have your pit crew keep track of how much fuel they add at your first fuel stop and calculate your milage based on that. That way you can modify your pit strategy during the race to get the most out of every pit.

While you're adding that cross tube for the belts you really need to throw some diagonal bracing in that "B" pillar to keep it from folding over in a bad roll. Just a single diagonal would likely be sufficient, an X would be better, we can talk about it at pre-tech. Oh and I'll see if I can round up some loaner seats for ya too. :)

That answered a lot fo questions we had.. Thanks Redd..

We got seats, and we'll get the cross bracing in hopefully before Saturday. I vote that whatever is decided for the amount of laps for the 4400 class is decided atleast 7 days before race day.

I vote for at least 2 laps so that you get at least 1 run down and have a chance to improve on your first run.

However in order to make future races like this eligible for KOH quailifier Im guessing you would need to run the whole thing like all other classes.

Just my opinion

The lights you were talking about are pretty simple you need two rear facing lights in your class one blue and one yellow (also called amber) they can be round or square as long as they are at least 3" wide. as for fire suits I ask about these and a single layer suit is fine and they cost about $100 dollars. for you guys that need race stuff like parts and suits and what not check out race-dezert.com and look at the classifieds lots of cool stuff for sale.

how is bore inspecting cages? I can't imagine that the exo cage would even come close to passing score tech. Does bore have less restrictive cage requirements?
I'm not bagging on your cage, score has gotten really tight with their cage rules. It seems like many other race organizers adapt score rules on safety items. I'm just wondering how bore is going to work.

And where are the class descriptions/rules?

Good luck. Desert racing is a lot of fun.

I'm so jelous! Timing sucks on this race for me. Its right in between 2 usra races.

we are having to do some bracing and gusseting in a few spots but other than that we are ok. in the future if i continue to rock race, i will use my buggy that i am building. im using my 4runner to tide me over and let me get a feel for this type of thing till its done

my good friend aaron clough at rebel custom racing pitched in a bunch of awesome stuff to help me for the race, he found a set of 37 in trepedors, a 12 gal fuels cell, and a window net.
if anyone knows of a set of 17 inch 6 lug rims for cheap/ or that i could barrow that would be awesome!
i just got done removing the hydro assist and i am headed back out to start the removal of the gas tank and install the fuel cell

I ordered an msd pump from jegs for $105 but I hear that its the same pump as the fullsize bronco inline pump. I would suggest you just order a circle track style cell from summit and do it fast. Get at least a 22gal. We have a 32gal and we should not have to fuel up during the race. I hear there is a place called fiero or something around 80so that has all the an 1f1i1ttings and stuff, but I will let you know when I can get down there myself this week.

Do the koh style classes need to run blue lights out back?

We are told that we do need blue and amber lights.. We have some powerful LED lights that we'll mount to the bottom of the top tube of the cage.

Lights are similar to this...

I haven't raced in one of these races before, but i'm thinking that the saize of the tank is relative, to a point. Most KOH guys, or big trophy truck types run V8's.. gas guzzlers.. We're running a stock I6 that gets in the mid 20's on the HWY in the truck right now. I can't imagine that this setup will get worst than 10mpgs in race mode? But this is speculation. We're hoping to find atleast a 12gal, and hopefully a 15 or 16.. That should be enough range for alteast one full lap in this race.
