Looking to get one for both auto use and home use. Price, $50.00-$100.00 can some one give me their advice on some good ones to look at?

Thanks,

how advanced do you want one? i picked one up at either a parts store, or home depot for pretty cheap, works good, not as nice as my snap-on one but it works just fine for anything I have done, a good amount less than $50. can't remember the brand but it wasn't anything special

Just buy one from Radio Shack. We shipped them around in training kits with no problems and they were cheap to replace when someone stole one. Heck, I still have one I used that's engraved 'JL Audio Tech Dept'... suckas.

For a trail tool bag, Harbor Freight has them regularly for $2.99. I'm sure they're every bit as nice as a Fluke, or JL Audio Tech Dept version. :)

as Carl stated... there are some nice ones at harbor freight for like 9.99 there is a small one that clamps around wires for AC amperage measurements... it will not do DC just so you know.... I use one all the time as an electrician... and when I need very accurate readings I use My new Fluke 376 which cost me $330 and will measure DC amperage up to 1000 amps...

I used to repair and calibrate analog multimeters back in the 50's and you can do more with a $3.00 meter mow. I use a $3.00 meter from HF but have a snap-on from Sears for serious and more accurate work. Fluke is probably the best out there today. I remember we had a Fluke voltage only tester that cost over $1000 in 1958 and it was only accurate to about 2%.

I've wasted so much money on crap meters. Finally got the meter I wanted, a really nice used fluke 83v on ebay for $100. Shoulda got it a long time ago.
If you just want to check your battery voltage or track down a short in crap wire then buy a $3 HF meter.
