bent a little tube. I decided to miter the corners because the jeepster hood is so wide.

I want to add a flare to it made out of tube, but I'm having a hard time with how big to make it  I'm leaning toward a 5" flare just to give a little coverage. it would be made out of 1" tube and skinned with 16 guage sheetmetal...................but I just don't know.

I was just going to ask about a flare. There was a TJ in JP a couple months ago (yellow) that had similar to what you're describing. It actually looked better than it sounds.

My current thinking is that I'll run a TJ flare (weak, I know) that attach with tapped tabs or 'nutserts' into the tube of the fender. For running the rocks, I'll just pull the flares off before heading to the trail.

I was typing while you were answer the question I hadn't asked yet

were you going to build a flare into yours or just put on a fender extension( ie xenon, bushwacker flares)

I'll build from the edge of the tire and build a flare/fender however I need it. :D I've got a set of Xenon ext. TJ flares. They are plenty wide for the rear with the H1 wheels, but I'm not sure I'll stick with those forever. Probably ought to build a little 'tunibility' into the system somehow....:D

tunibility would be nice.

I need some cj style fronts to be able to run a "soft" flare.

oh dont' get me wrong: I'm not knocking scoops, in fact I have one planned for the StupidLow Project, but that just seems like a lot of work...just.. to have scoops. I applaud you, sir!

I'll guess it wasn't as much work as it could have been. Somehow I just dont' get the impression that you were slaving over the holes with a wooden paddle and a coil of lead.....
