I am looking for some 3/4" or 1" tubing to build a safari rack with.

Will schedule pipe work?? what do you guys think? if not, anyone know how muck 3/4" or 1" tubing costs??

personally I dont see why schedule pipe wont work...its not a cage or anything structural...after its painted no one would ever know...the only down side is it would be a little heavier than tubing...I say save your money and use pipe:D

I actually like the look of racks made out of 1" square. you can mitre everything and make it look nice, cut the four corners and make some cool bracket and tabs for ratchet straps....just like the overkill con-fer racks.

I agree with spence...I too like the square tubing look...plus square is soooooo much easier to work with:D (as long as you can bend it that is:p)

I once found a site that would give you the wieghts of everything...I will see if I can find it again...all I was saying heavier was cause tubing youwould usually use .120 wall or clse to...with pipe its usually quite a bit thicker...but when you are talking the smaller stuff 1" or 3/4" it may not be much weight difference...I will see if I can find that site...

Just put the square tube in your bender- it works fine. (it will fold the inside inward but confers is done that way also.) Worked for me...
