Tom, was diagnosed with cancer at 15. He beat it by his early 20's was a regular with us on the trails in his FZJ80 (pictured), sadly a few years back he was again diagnosed with leukemia and the Cruiser had to go. He's coming up on his 29th birthday and, although now cancer free, he has incurred many other challenges with the side effects of the medications as well as from the cancer itself. His once 5'10" frame is now a frail 5'1" and his teeth have started to decay and rot away from the many medications he has to take. He will never regain his height, but he can most certainly regain his confidence and build his self esteem with a new smile!
His sister has entered him into a contest to win a NEW set of teeth for the New Year!! His current insurance will only pay for the removal of the existing teeth, but will not pay to replace them. 6/27/18 UPDATE: As many of you know, while Tom swept the voting, the original dentists office decided to choose a different winner. It was unfortunate and left Tom hunting for a solution. A new dentist actually reached out after hearing of the contest woes and offered to do the procedure free of labor, however Tom needs to cover the hard costs which include the implant teeth, the anesthesiologist, etc. The out of pocket cost will be approx. $15,000. Keep in mind the dentists he visited estimated approx $50,000 in total work so this dentist is doing a huge solid for Tom.
Tom's sister has started a GoFundMe to help raise the funds to help Tom get the procedure. I come to you humbly asking for any support you might be able to offer. Many of you offered to help financially during the voting phase and if you still help, it would be greatly appreciated. Cruiser Outfitters is donating $1000 to see this Cruiserhead smile again.
