need advice on noisy neighbors.

Its a frickin joke.

These Mexican's next door have loud speaker's on the side of there house and blast Mexican music or base or Disney theme songs all day long!

I have called the cops on them numerous times and they will turn it down for a few days but then its back up again...

I can hear this crap in my shop clear as day with ear protection and my music blasting and running a air hammer! !!

Any advice would be awesome!

I feel for you, we had shitty neighbors for years where I am now. A house full of kids, teenage boys that would park on the lawn, revving engines at 2am or just being loud, parents that either didn't care or just had no control. I spoke to the father a few times, my wife spoke to the mother a few times, police were called a couple times.. The thing that finally fixed it was they moved away. Fortunately it was not a daily thing, more like once or twice a month.

I know most people are going to say go talk to them, but in my experience that just doesn't work with people who are as inconsiderate and disrespectful as what you are describing. Based on your post, this is what I'd do:

First, find out if they rent or own. If they are renters, contact the actual owner and explain the situation. It may or may not make a difference, but as a previous rental house owner I can tell you we took anything the neighbors said very seriously.

Start logging their noise. Dates and times, when you call the police, etc. This will go a long way with police and judges, much better than "they are always making a racket". I'd even record some of it.

Send them a certified letter, and keep a copy for yourself. Politely explain the situation and how it is affecting you, as well as something along the lines of "if this does not stop, I will be pursuing the matter through the court system." I.E. - STFU or I'm going to sue you.

Continue to call the police, and make sure you can get copies of the police reports.

If after all that they still keep doing it, take them to court. If you have everything well documented, your noise diary, recordings, police reports, etc. you should have no trouble winning. When their a-hole behavior starts hitting them in the wallet they may change their tune (no pun intended).

i read a story on KSL about this, the offended neighbor put up his own speakers and started playing church music.

What happened in the end if i remember it right, the police got involved, i am not sure if they both got fined but both neighbors had to take down their speakers, win win for the offended neighbor.

In all seriousness I'd go the talk to the owner/compile enough evidence to sue them route. If it's worth all the hassle.

I wish I had the answer I really do.. I'll be watching this thread close. I'm in a similar situation with out of control kids next door. The words that come out of their mouths all day long would make a sailor blush and the parents are completely oblivious because they don't speak a word of English. It's a circus every day to the point I don't like going outside anymore and I don't let my daughter outside unless I'm with her. I moved to bfe (aka Lewiston) for peace and quiet and rarely if ever do I have it anymore--it's a joke.

Anyway it helped a lot when we called the land lord and got him involved. It didn't fix the problem but was a move in the right direction. Good luck

I have not talked to them but I have tried...the first time I went and knocked on the door and they didn't answer (but did for the cops about a half hr later lol)
and tried to talk to him wile he was doing yard work (wile his music was blasting) but he said he dosnt speak English and almost perfect English then ignored me.
So now I just call the cops. (Wife called em today cus they where blasting the frost sound track for 2 hrs)

i would guess they they own it but no idea. And there not right next door either, I have a lot between us some Greek fellows keep there goats in.

im pretty quiet and I shut the shop door when I'm grinding or anything loud and for blasting my tunes I just have a set of computer speakers hooked to my phone full blast I can hardly hear the music inside the house witch is a few feet away...doesn't seem like there doing it to piss me off or cus I'm making noise..it's pretty random and normally when I'm not doing anything.. There just inconsiderate pricks.

I used to be the type of guy this thread is being written about. I used to be on a first name basis with most of the police working nights around Sugar house. I always got a good laugh when the cops would give me a ticket for noise or disturbing the peace because it never changed anything. We even used to have a money bottle inside the front door that people contributed to just to help pay all the tickets!

Nothing changed until I finally broke enough laws in one night to get a dozen of us dragged out of the house and arrested. The judge was so mad that they placed my house under 24 hour police watch and I paid the city $50 an hour for it. To be sure that I paid up they put the bill on my city utilities so I had to pay or lose water and garbage. Needless to say I played along and paid my fees until I was forced to move because of the money

When asked about property to live on, I would reply that I would like to live on enough land that if I heard a dog barking I could shoot it. It would appear I need to expand my buffer area or relax my hunting regulations.

that said, I am very tolerant of the noise of the youthful, given my younger days, but for of the noise of the elderly (typically dogs), I have no tolerance.

If the music is during the day, I suggest a couple things. Either getting better insulation, getting some earplugs/headphones, or moving. Being noisy during the day isn't against the law. If it's at night, it's a different story but it doesn't sound like that's the case. There's a lot of racist (or racist leaning) comments in this thread and it's pretty disgusting...

Because someone suggesting involving immigration? That's actually the single best solution to the issue if anyone there is in fact in the country illegally (how dare anyone look into that, right? ).
I'd say have it check out when the cops are called and reports are filed, it's a good harmless starting point.
