Need driveshaft help in Cedar City.

We were heading out on a week trip through southern UT. Leaving Fish Lake NF the rear driveshaft started the angry sparrows. We are limping back to Cedar in front wheel drive. I need a driveshaft shop recommendation in or near Cedar City. All help is appreciated.

Yellow pages has Tunex and Six States. Here's Six States' info:

2173 West 850 North
Cedar City, Utah
84721
(435) 867-4666
Toll free: (877) 867-4666
FAX: (435) 867-6332 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. Monday through Friday
Closed Saturday
Closed Sunday

If that's no help there's a couple other shops listed in St George, but none of them look as likely as Six States.

Edit - Six States' web site says they have a shop in St George too. That didn't show up in a yellow pages search for "driveshaft".

Thanks. Six States seems to have a good reputation on the board. Hope they can get me in and out quick. Back in Cedar now.

So. I took it to Six States this morning and he said the driveshaft is smooth as silk, all joints well greased. I put it back in and the noise is gone. Its cold this morning so I'm concerned that could be helping. Waiting at the Tire Company to get the CV greased as a last resort.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Is it possible a piece of dirt got in there and just needs to work its way out?

Worst case scenario is that it is the T-case. But I'd think that would be a different sound.

If the noise stopped when you drove without the driveshaft, I'd think the tcase is probably fine. Could it be an issue with the input on your rear diff?

I dunno, I was thinking maybe something with the input bearing that won't act up without load from the driveshaft? But I'm a dummy about that stuff, maybe somebody else will chime in.

You already know you can limp back out if the trouble comes back, I say drive on. :)
