Speaking of propaganda, I have sweet document called "17 rules for celestial dating"

It's nothing short of spectacular.

there is a small form that can be signed to remove your wife's name entirely from the records, if that is what she wants. Ask the bishop about it.

but are they really that bad?

Yes and No. Like I said, I am not against them personally, but when you kindly ask them to not come by anymore, and they do for 14 months it becomes really annoying. I am not crazy in that I would have the nerve to call the cops or do anything of legal nature. I just want them to stop, and I feel that is a very universal message regardless of who you are or what org you represent.

At times I feel like they would only get the message if I was rude, or got in their faces, etc. That is not me. I try to be the nicest guy in the world, but I feel they are taking my kindness for weakness at this point....

EDIT: Oh and guys, not to sound like a dick or anything, I love the jokes, and everything, and being a devout Atheist I typically welcome it, but I really just want to keep this particular thread civil because I am asking for help. I dont want to offend anyone of any faith here. Thank you very much everyone.

I'd contact the local bishop however you choose to. I think that's the way to go. Floppy Hat's link above is perfect. That'll give you some good info about who to contact. I'd bet a phone call would do wonders for your problems.

I could fax it to someone, but I don't have a scanner and I don't feel like typing it up....and I don't really find it necessary to publicly mock mormons with some of their internal documents. Thats not really fighting fair.

but if someone wants to see it and has a fax, I suppose I could share.

I'd be interested in it because I've never heard of it. Been 'involved' in the "church" since I was about 7 years old. (took a few years off here and there) I've yet to find any of these supposed documents to be "real" church documents. Usually they are a member's opinion and they can be accurate, but not necessarily so.

Sorry I should have used the quotes I was talking about the guy who had a no solicitation sign that wanted to be able to press charges...

I totally agree with you in that you should not be put in a position which you feel like you have to be rude in order to get a point across and I appreciate you striving to find the best way possible to deal with it. Unfortunately regardless of where you live in the world I do not know an effective way to avoid being contacted by Mormons, JW's, etc. It is just part of the way it is structured and even if you were to scare off some or be rude to some it only lasts long enough till the next pair that know nothing about the area come in and start making the rounds. I just wish that more of the missionaries out there were to listen and pay attention when someone doesn't want to here what they are sharing before it becomes a confrontation. I think it would obsolve a lot of negativity felt about it all. And that goes for all religions...

Yeah I feel that they shouldnt ever go door knocking. I mean would you buy a TV from Circuit City if they kept knocking on your door and asking you to buy their tv? NO! If I want the TV they are selling, I will go into their store and buy it. Thats how I see religion, if I am interested in what you are preaching, let me go to you!

Seems fair to me.

That was is slightly differen than mine. Teh one I have was made on an old-school type writer and even has some awesome spelling mistakes. I kind of thought it was just something a bishop somewhere whipped up one night after having too much Nyquil.

Someone is attempting to do a good deed for you and keeps encouraging them to make contact with you. Your nemesis is out there and it is someone that you know, not random, and probably not the folks knocking on the door. I cannot understand why you have been unable to make a clear point and they keep coming back? Keep trying responsibly. If they visit again have a respectable discussion about the reasons that they keep coming over and disregarding your desire. Escalate it to asking whom they get the direction from and speak with that person just like asking for the manager at Circuit City.

This just in!

"Gripguru: Leaders of the Mormon church- just like the managers at Circuit City!"

heheheh

I don't get it? because they are trying to do a good deed?

I guess that makes sense. So, since I was a manager at Circuit City, does that give me good resume fodder for potential church leadership positions?
