Hey fellas

thanks in advance for any help ya all can provide. I haven't been moved to Utah and SLC area a year, and the shop i normally go to closed down.

background; my junker: 95YJ 4cyl with kluneV, D44 front on spring over, D60 rear, custom 4 link rear, stretched wheel base, custom cage, air shocks, etc. Everything made at home.

Best direction to go on a rear anti-sway bar? Or go to coil overs? With coil overs would i still need an anti-sway bar? The dudes that sold me the air shocks went out of biz. The rig has too much sway in back to be safe on the road, (although it'll be used 90% off road). I don't know much about them; when the jeep was spring under i removed them front and rear and never missed them.

The air shocks are new and need to be charged more. A shop that i used to frequent in Colorado charged $0. A place here in Utah quoted me $25 each. What's reasonable?

I made custom front fenders for it but it was a huge PITA. Anyone know of a place to get large rubber fenders, say for semi-trucks or something, to keep it street legal and the tire covered? I don't care if its ugly since all fenders come off when it hits the dirt.

My Sears diehard finally died hard (after 7 years but it wasn't sealed). Best price and location on getting an optima red top?

Thanks

Well, as far as a shop I always say use rocklogic. As far as the rear sway, I'd say go with a sway away. If you need rocklogic can install it for you.

It is a long ways to Logan But I would call Mount Logan Offroad. They have always had great prices and will help you out with whatever questions you may have. They are very involved with the comp scene so they are up to date on the latest stuff.

i have had the orbital from napa for a couple of years and it is always dead, it has been replaced so many times i dont care to count them. i am not saying the optima is any better, i have never owned an optima. but i am not impressed with the orbital.

Maybe look into the Currie anit rock universal kit. As for the shop closing down I have a good guess of which one he was talking about.

Thanks for the replies guys. The shop that closed down was Outer Limit.

I've used Advanced 4x4, back when i lived in Utah briefly. I brought my rig in for a bad vibration and thought i needed to spend real $. But they fixed it by adjusting the pinion angle and charged me almost nothing. That really impressed me. Back in those days i didn't know much and they could have really taken me for a ride. I've tried that shop since i've been back but frankly they don't often answer the phone and it's hard to get a real quote from them.
As for optimas, i'm not married to that brand but i know its sealed and my YJ crawler will no doubt end up wrong side down knowing my driving skill. i don't want a battery that's going to give me problems. 4wheelparts has the redtop for like 132$ wtf! i paid $79 for my first redtop!!!

check Costco. They sell redtops and Blue tops. Actually check auto zone too, I bought a red top there a while ago and I think it was in the low 100's

Know Randy, the owner, VERY well and can say with confidence that he would never knowingly/purposefully rip someone off.

He's a bit forgetful at times, but that's what his staff is for.

He was working on my Scout when I got accepted to law school, and he told me he'd store it for me until I found a place for it . . . heck of a nice guy!

I'm a Optima dealer and they just had a price increase in January? after they got their red line back up. I don't remember when/percentage and I can't find the paper, now that I'm looking for it....

My one and only experience with him was very bad. A simple $20 press job turned into a $250 4340 shaft blued! I still remember him trying to tell me that that is the way you have to remove a retaining collar:mad: . Stay away at all costs.

The sway bar we offer runs $300 it has nice aluminum arms is a bit more heavy duty then the currie kit they sale for $369. We charge shocks (Off Vehicle) for $10 and (on) for $20. We have the Orbital Series batteries in stock and they run at $128. We also provide shock tuning wich in turn can help with the boaty feeling in the rear end!
