I have two 4.0 engines that both had head gasket leaks. One was a very slow leak and the other was a multiple cylider monster leak. From what I can see the heads and blocks don't look cracked but I think both heads should be checked out for cracks or warping. The one that had multiple cyliders full of water had been overheated. Does anyone have a recomendation for a good machine shop that could check these heads out ? One head has about 30K miles on a rebuild and the other head has 85K miles on it. Should I have the 85K head re-built ?
The engine with the slow leak has some scuffing on the rod bearings that I presume was caused by the "10w-30" prestone. The oil analysis I had done showed glycol and also high lead and copper levels.
I have not done an oil analysis on the engine that got overheated, it does show an over full level which I'm assuming is some antifreeze. I'm hoping not to have to do rod bearings on the overheated one.
