As some of you know I am looking an getting into a Jeep GC. I have considered buying a used one that was built up. But I have also thought about buying a used one that hasn't been bulit up. Here are the parts I think I am going to get.

The Rock Krawler 8.0" Severe Duty Long Arm System

C.V. Driveshaft Conversion or
Heavy Duty SYE with C.V. Driveshaft

35" wheel and tires.

Exhaust

Dana 44 rear axel

What else would you guys recommend? I am new the the 4x4 world so I don't really know very much about this.

You should PM GroceryGetter on this. He's gone from the mega lift approach (and rolling on pavement as a result), to going low and hacking the body. Also, he can tell you what you're getting into building a rig that has no actual frame.

BTW, we've got a "cut away" model of his rig in our shop right now. If you want a harcore ZJ, Cody's rig is soon to be a great example. ;) :D

If you aren't willing to accept trail damage, then there is no place you can go w/ 8" and 35's that you couldn't go w/ 4.5" and 33's.

Once you get over a 33" tire, you open up a whole new can of worms. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what will need to be changed to make things work w/ tall lifts. Older jeeps may have tired steering joints, ball joints, etc which all can effect how it drives afterwards.

For a rig that is a daily driver and weekend warrior I would recommend the Rubicon Express 4.5" lift, some minor trimming, rock rails, and 33's. If you get a 4.0, then gears would be nice too.

If you have any questions PM me. Also, try www. nagca.com for more vehicle specific information.

Von, have you been taking some progress pics by chance?

it was a trade off. I went more ZJ up front and less in the back.

I'm pretty sure there isn't anything more to cut off. I'll keep you posted if I find something.

I'm excited!!!

I was gonna try and make my Jeep a four seater and put two bucket seats in the rear but I decided to just concentrate on getting it done instead...but obviously thats not working:rolleyes:

I am really getting anxious now that I have a tow rig...I have most the parts all I need to do it put it together:rolleyes: I have even bent the hardest hoop (the front one) and all I need to do now is get my lazy ass to work on it, but now I am back in my house (in Magna) and its still at my parents (in South Jordan)...next weekend I am gonna try and hit it hard...

dove tailed is sooo last week. :D

Yeah, I'm working around the rear seats because I always seem to bring peopel along that can't do the trails that I want to do. I have some buckets out of an XJ that I will likely rig to be back there.
