I wanted a bike that I could explore the many, many back roads in this area. After doing some research I decided on a TW200. I picked it up a couple of weeks ago. I have around 130 miles on it so far (went to San Diego for a week so didn't ride). I filled the tank and got 90 mpg. That is so much better than the 12 mpg I get in my Power Wagon. I figure I should be able to put 20-40 miles every day and explore this whole area in the next few years.
This is the first time I have ever owned a bike that goes off road (other than taking the Harley off road a couple of times). I have to admit the learning curve is much steeper than I thought it would be. I'm slowly improving each time I ride but I still don't have a handle on the sand. Every time I hit sand the bikes gets so squirmy I feel like I'm going down. Even that has gotten a little better with experience but I have a long way to go. I lowered the air pressure from 21 psi to 12 psi tonight and will see if that helps tomorrow when I ride. Searching a TW200 forum that is the psi they recommend.
I've started designing a couple of things for it. A front and rear rack, a couple of tool tubes and a GPS mount.
Can't wait to keep putting on miles and learning more about the bike and the riding. Hopefully I can go out with you guys some day.
