I've had this in my head for a while, and it really bugs me. It hails back to the 5% reduction in emissions caused by oxygenated fuel, as opposed to the 10% decrease in engine efficiency, resulting in more pollutants being spewed in the long run...
As far as I've been able to determine, the new emissions control systems on Chevy, ford and dodge diesels reduce the particulate emissions by about 25%.
They also reduce the fuel economy by around 30%, meaning that these machines are burning more fuel, and putting out MORE particulate matter in the long run.
What I can't find is the percentage reduction in NOx emissions. Does anyone have that info?
