Thanks! So far the downfall is weight. I carry a lot of tools, parts, and such around, and with full camping gear and me and the wife inside, it weighed in last weekend at 5180 lbs. Up from 4425 when it was basically stock but loaded to the top inside.

Thanks again everyone. As for The Stranger, he has just started wheeling the last month or two and is already kickin butt at it (despite the borderline disturbing avatar:)). Doing at least as well as me, and I have been going to Moab since I was 5. Dang you naturals!

It is not as sluggish as a lot of people said it would be. Around town, it is not bad at all. On flat freeway/highway fine as well. It has a pretty hard time on the road hills. Anything longer and/or steeper than the I-15 point of the mountain grade has me in 3rd gear. The point of the mountain hill pushes it as far as maintaining 60-65 in 4th gear.

I only went with those gears because I already had the R&P and air locker for the front D44 from my previous jeep, and it was 3.54. If I was doing it again, I would bite the bullet and spend the $1000 for a different set up. The only downfall is the highway performance. I think I would be a lot happier with at least 4.10, but 4.56 would be perfect for me. I don't think it would even effect the gas mileage much. I am at 2000RPM at 70mph right now. With 4.56 it would be more like 2650, but from what I hear the 4.0L gets just as good mileage at that RPM. I have been thinking about leaving it in 4th my next Moab trip to test that theory.

I am getting 15MPG around town and 19-20 going to Moab. Pretty mediocre.

Looks pretty setup. How's it doing running 3.50 gears with 35's and all that weight?

I was! But I didn't have the resources to get the trail tires down, so was running the 33s. A friend and I hit Golden Spike on Saturday.

gosh I was almost the exact same setup as you until a week or so ago
3.50 and 35's...
I didn't think it was that bad either, until I realized I was only driving a 3 speed, and how hot that trans will get...
and I only got about 220miles to the tank

just swapped to 4.88's and couldn't be happier
