New reeds not siting completely flush to cage

I bought a new set of Boyesen Super Stock Fiber Reeds and they do not quite sit flat to the reed cage. Are they suppose to sit 100% flush with the cage?

I can see light looking though it from the intake side. Does this mean the reed cage is bad and needs to be replaced? Is that possible for the cage to wear out and not allow the reeds to sit completely flush? Hope this makes sense.
 
They are supposed to sit flush and your not supposed to see any light through them. The reeds are what keeps air and fuel flowing in the right direction. I have never seen a cage wear out, so I am not sure what the problem would be.
 
It looks like there is a rubber "seal" on the cage that meets up with the reeds. Could that be an issue if that is worn and not allowing the reeds to seal right?

Sent mobility using app designed to cut productivity while at work and can't use a computer.
 
This is pretty common. Take them off and flip them over then reinstall. That should take care of it. It's a good idea to add loctite to those small screws.

I installed one the other way and it seems to be about the same... I did not turn the other side over however....
What if turning them over does not close the gap?
Is it worth it to get v force 3 reeds?

Try swapping them around top to bottom--bottom to top, flipping them over etc. until you can get them to seal completely. Again this is common with new reeds I think they also mention it in the instructions. If that doesn't do it I'm out of ideas I've never seen the reed cage go bad but that's not to say it can't happen... Good luck
 
This is what the reeds look like. I was able to fiddle with them and they seem to fit better now.
