New TRD Tacomas

I was at the dealer today ordering some parts. On my way out I noticed an '09 four door, TRD, Tacoma. I stopped and looked at the widow sticker just for fun and noticed they sell those things for over $33,000  and the TRD models only have a limited slip, no e-locker. When did this happen?

"TRD Sport" has the limited slip and the super awesome hood scoop, the "TRD Off-Road" still has the locker.

I think.

Yep, been that way since the last body change in 05. As far as the sticker price, you should be able to get it quite a bit lower than that. When I was looking for my truck, I was quoted $26K for a fully decked out 4dr TRD Offroad model.

I don't think it's only the tacomas. In 1997 my dad bought a new ford xlt power stroke and paid I believe 28,000 roughly. I would bet the same truck would cost 40,000 now

That is my main question, and that is what I thought too. However, this was not a TRD sport. I just looked the truck up on Toyota's web site. It must have been a typo on the window sticker, because they still have the locker.

That makes sense. There are a hand full of new body TRD Sports at work with very mild street tires. I'd assume if you got the locker they would include (make you pay for) a decent set of all terrains.

If you consider this a decent all terrain:
