Nissan xTerra Locker/LSD Options

My brother-in-law has a 2010 xTerra and he is looking to perhaps, maybe take it on some more difficult trails. I like X's, and I think they are quite capable out of the box, but he might benefit from some some more traction. What kind of options are out there aside from ARB?

I assume this rig sees DD duties? or atleast a ton of pavement?

Yeah, it's his DD. Rarely sees dirt, really, and when it does it's mostly gravel roads with little 4WD. Personally, a LSD would be best. I know that some of the higher trim level X's had those stock. And I know that the Pro-4x has an electric locker in it. A straight swap of those would be nice, but hard to find I think. ARB would be perfect, but at ~$1500 a little pricey. I know they have a system called VDC, some sort of ABS enabled anti-slip braking system, but not sure how much it will help on the trail. I just want to see whats out there.
