Just wondering if i will be able to notch 4130 chrome-oly tube on my tubing notcher using a bimetal holesaw? Its the same one I use to notch 1018 dom but not sure if it will cut the 4130.

Cool. I only have one maybe 2 notches to make. I have heard of using a carbide cutter but not sure what that is.

There isn't a notching tool or machine that I am aware of that is rigid enough to provide the rigidity required to make the wear resistance advantage of carbide over HSS offset the disadvantage of it's brittility.

In other words, HSS (such as a good bi-metal hole saw) is more cost effective than carbide tooling for 99.9% of tube notching, even when dealing with materials like 4130N.
