NP 540 & NP 435

Hey folks
There is an np 435 with an underdrive and np 205 for sale - seems they are a married set. Will an np540 replace the np435 without needing special adapters? just physically put it in place and bolt everything down?

I have no idea if the 540 will bolt in place of the 435, but what's the desire for the 540? I guess you have one more gear in between, but the final drive in 5th is still 1:1 just like 4th is in the 435.
