Lots of different off-road groups and independent wheelers decided to head up to AF canyon to celebrate National Public Lands day 2014. The weather was not ideal due to persistent rain that week, but hey... were freaking off-roader's so no biggie right!

There was a terrific turnout, so I just wanted post up thanking everyone for coming out and doing a bit of service in AF canyon!

I know I primarily got pics of the group I was in, but please post up if you were there or have any of your own pics to share!

later in the day a group of us braved the trek to the top of mineral basin, super wet and gorgeous up there... terrific colors and the fog made for some amazing shots!

The joke of the day was that it was the best day up there all year because there was no traffic, lots of cool wheeling rigs and NO DUST what so ever.... :D

I had a great time and it was fun to see how many people showed up. I was there when there was just a few rigs there and spent time hanging out with the Forest Service folks. They were saying we should cancel the event since the weather was bad and it was likely more people weren't going to show up. They were quite surprised when lots of people showed up and said they would have to find something for us to do. My favorite thing they said was "we have to cancel the events up high, we don't want anyone sliding off the road". I had to laugh about that one. I should have gone wheeling after cleaning up around the lake, I'm sure my son's Comanche wanted to do more than sit in the parking lot.

Wish I could have made it, the wife's scheduled didn't allow for it. Looks like it was a good time despite the rain
