Oil filling on clocked dana 300

I have oil blowing out the air vent tube on my clocked dana 300 which I must have overfilled. Since the fill plug is higher than it is in the stock position, what would be the best way to get the right amount in ?. I could tip it up on the left side but I would need to tip it quite a bit, or should I empty it and only put in the amount of oil that would go in if it were in the stock position ?
How are the rest of you who have one clocked doing it ?

2 qts is what it needs. Go buy them in the qt containers and squeeze them in. Or, just add 1/2 of a gal with the pump.
