All Im saying is take a few extra precautions for the stupid people that are there and there wont be anything to worry about for many years to come.

Solid advice. I'm sure Craig will address these issues before august, in a place like delta I see no reason why people would need to be to close to the courses. Good thing no one was hurt.

Who was this guy in the TC UTV? He was pit racing?

I agree with you. 100%

But thats not what happens in court. Blame has to go somewhere and its not the deceased. Its a flawed system as we all know but thats the game that will be played WHEN it happens

Potato salad is different because the system wont sue themselves. They will just shut down access to it so it wont happen again.

Im sure the insurance for OSRC isnt cheap. If a claim is drawn, insurance will no longer be able to be obtained and the event is over. All Im saying is take a few extra precautions for the stupid people that are there and there wont be anything to worry about for many years to come.

That's very true as far as courts and insurance goes. Our system is screwed up and unfortunately it's never gonna change... I'm just saying that the sole responsibility can't be placed just on the event coordinators or the driver. The spectators have to take responsibility and use common sense as well... That's all.

My perspective

Cheston, I agree that the rollover thru the gate could have been a huge tragedy. Fortunatley it wasnt. Personally I thought it was cool, but I would feel differently if anyone was hurt. As far as everyone cheering on the little guy, most were his family and friends. I dont think anyone had a bigger following at this event. I personally knew many of them.

As for the guy speeding thru/near the crowd, lets insure that changes, as thats not acceptable.

I am all for changes to insure everyone is safe for next time. Lets not put a sour note on a great event, but try to improve an awesome event!

Thanks Craig Stumph!

Cheston, did you hear the talk of a Monster Crawler class? I expect to see ya competeing!

would the roll have been any less spectacular if it was 20 feet away from the people?

Good point. Hopefully they will learn from each event and make it safer everytime.

At one point I saw you and couldn't remember who you were until you posted this and it clicked.

I agree with Cheston, I noticed Hunter a little loose and scetchy towards some spectators on #8, then later when he was on the last obs before he rolled I recommended to the spectators at the gate to move and make room because hunter was a little wild, they stated that they knew he was wild because they were his family, they moved some and then barely missed getting landed on. Hunter did a spectacular job driving the event, deserved the win, and hopefully he will get some more instruction on being aware of spectators and gate rules. Casey is as great of a spotter as he is a driver.

Over all the event was agian awesome and every year I believe the organizers learn how to make it better and safer. Props to Craig, Kevin, Millard County and all the great sponsors, competitors and volunteers.

I hope Im not coming across as I think the whole event was a disaster because it wasnt. It was a great time and 99% of it was flawless. I think Craig and crew did an excellent job. But like I said there is always room for improvement, especially when it comes to keeping everyone safe. This is just what I noticed. I was a little hot headed after the UTV incident but it did not change the fact I had a great time!!! Thanks to ALL involved.

There was some AMAZING driving displayed. Some of the racing was down right incredible! I cant believe the grand cherokee broke a panhard mount and kept it on course and dang near passed and won! It was AWESOME!!!

I actually talked to Craig about making a MONSTER BUGGY class. He was all for it and said he would run it if 4 of us would show up. He said he would make different cones for us. When it gets closer I want to talk to him more about it. I dont think we need different cones. We can run the unlimited course. Just would be more fair. If i hit a cone, chances are the other 3 are going to get the same one. Just even the class up. Im all for coming down and competing!!!

I have to give props to Aaron Hair to. He got that big buggy thru 6 of the 8 courses and never flopped it. He took cones all along the way but it was impressive to say the least. The only mishap they had was hitting the oil pan on a rock and punching a hole.

I still cant believe he got the thing up the wall! Byron did a helluva job spotting as well

I hear that was Spaticus, but I didn't know it at the time. Really messed it up. Robbie did as well as could be expected and was always a crowd pleaser. I was amazed that Aaron did as well as he did with the BIG rig. It was fun to watch.

Great event, and for once I took ZERO photos.. Had my hands full with the puppy, but it was fun to be at the event and not have any responsibility. :)

I will say that I think the temper tantrum from the tuff country utv pilot was absolutely uncalled for. If you can't drive, you can't drive; but just accept it and move on.

What ever, I owned that thing... Tacoma is just a brittle old man

Ain't that the truth LOL

From my perspective, some of the drivers need to chill the hell out on some of these tighter courses... but the judges on those courses also need to take some responsibility and move people if they know they're in a bad spot. At every event I've judged, safety is a big consideration when I walk the course-- not only where are the drivers going to have trouble, but what are the fall lines? Are there any places that could be bad if a driver gets loose?

As has been said before, the course designers do their job to make a challenging course, the rest of it is a compromise between safety and crowd access-- if no one can see the course, who wants to watch it? As for all the kids, I'd love to know where their parents were? I keep mine a little close when there are multi-ton vehicles flopping around nearby.

Doesn't have to be a big issue, but it is one that needs to be addressed, and I'm sure it will be before August. Personally, I never, ever have an issue kicking spectators back out of the way-- would sure be nice if the spectators would take a look for themselves.

As for any uh.. after-hours mishaps, all participants were well aware of the potential risks and uhmmm nobody ended up duct-taped. :D To Tish the Dish, if you are reading this, SO sorry I was "pissy" with you, maybe next time keep your %#$%#$@# hands off my broken bones, mmkay?

BIG thanks to Craig, Kevin Morris w/Millard County, and everyone who judged, volunteered, competed, supported drivers or staff, and anyone who wasn't mentioned. I LOVE Old School, it is a consistently great event for everyone involved. :D

See you b*tches in August. ;)

I'll tell you one thing, those last 4 or so corners I took were a lot harder with my axle shifting 2' side-to-side! The panhard actually snapped right in half! Mounts held up great. I'll have to be looking into why that happened for sure.

I was very stoked to still have walked away with 2nd place even with my roll on course 1.

Thanks for a kick-ass event and I am definitely looking forward to August!!!

A testament to your skills Tyler; you kept your rig on course despite the broken panhard bar, and made for a thriller of a finish line dash. :)
