Well my ARB comp is DOA and I never liked that slow pig any how (try airring up 39.5" boggers with it). I would still like a 12 or 24 volt comp but I'm cheap. I heard that Checker had a good cheep O but my local store just looked at me like I was a freek. Any Ideas.

I have never seen a good cheap 12v compresor. I have seen a good expensive one, oaisis air or whatever it is.

I have less than $500 into my belt driven york system and it is worth every penny. it will air up 2, 37x12.5 mtr's from 14psi to 28 psi in about a minute. (I have a hose with two locking air chucks, I do two at a time)

I am too cheap to buy an ARB locker, I have lockright in the front and i will be putting a gm 14 bolt with a detroit in the rear. (by the time i regear and lock my ford 10.25 it is cheaper to put in a 14 bolt with a detriot and 4.10's)

just my .02

I hacked up my stock Sanden AC compressor and threw an normally open air chuck on the end. Just lock it onto my tire, rev up the engine and it fills up pretty fast.

Yep, I have maybe $30 in mine....
Junkyard compressor, fab'd a bracket from some scrap, old semi airbake tank, some line, fittings, and a belt....
Depending on what your running, you may be able to find a factory compressor and braket in the JY.

I have a a sized up york sitting under my bench now, and I have seen how good they work. On the down side, the front of my blazer is allready way to heavy and it would be nice to make it any worse. :-\

I love my York, I have never seen a electrically driven compressor even come close to airing up tires as fast as mine can. It's really not that much weight to add and fwiw I think it's worth it.

I used the elec. compressors from Viair in SLC, pretty good, but I can't remember the output, but I had a 5-gal tamk hooked to it

Did you guys need to do an oiling system while using the stock AC compressor? I have a 97 XJ engine in my CJ that is equipped with an a AC compressor. Needles to say its not in use :) Can you guys post pics of your
setups?

Thanks,
jason

I am way interested in this as well, my arb pump is about to die from pumping up those 37's all time. even with a sun airtank full it still takes about 28 minutes from 15 to 33 psi :-\

As an alternative, I just got a Hypertank Co2 tire inflation system. Yea I know it will need to be filled every so offten but for speed, simplicity, and portability its hard to beat :)

York here as well.
J.Y. compressor, ghetto fabbed brackets, generic hose & brass fittings, and a small tank from a DOA contractor compressor. I did buy a pressure switch from ARB, but I'm sure you could find a less expensive one. About $80 total into the setup and I love it to death.

CO2 is the way to go in my opinion, portability, more power from air tools, twice as fast fill times on tires...and depending on the size and use, you can make it last all season. Would I use one in a comp rig? No, no room, but I would do it for my trail rig.............

That company I got the tanks and pumps from was Vicar not Viair

I got to use the Co2 tank last night on my wife's Subaru and on my mountain bike. I know its not hard core off roading but damn did it work well :)

I prefer the best of both worlds...

CO2 for all my large volume air needs (tools & tires) and the ARB compressor for my Air Lockers only... the compressors will last a long time if NOT used for airing up tires... and they take forever to do it anyways.

I am only into my C02 setup ~$100 and I have it rigged to I can operated my Air Lockers if the compressor were to fail...

I really love my York too. It can air up a 33" tire from completely flat to 35 psi in just over a minute.

There are quite a few guys on NAXJA running their stock Sanden compressor for OBA. Some just drill a hole in the top of the compressor, screw in a zerk fitting and shoot some lube in it here or there. I'll see if I can find some pics.

Here ya go

Hmmm... I think I need to put a zerk in mine.

There have been rumors that the Sanden gets it lubrication from the freon (or whatever they use now...) but I also heard that it has an oil sump in it somewhere.

I'm not able to confirm either of these statements. Anybody else confirm?
