On going spotty coverage of the MoutainYoats team via Beardy's view...

So, our first course chewed us up and spit us out. About 3/4's through, facing a hairpin turn with a 5' ledge and maniacly placed cones, the front of the truck nosed into a rock wall with the wieght of itself sitting on the front driverside wheel... Hard passenger turn and boom.. Something gives up the ghost.. We figured birf, then thought hub, but will know for sure here shortly... So we have 45mins to wrench and hit our next course. Course #1: 38 points

Still no power to the front driverside wheel.. Second attempt at hub removal, check and recheck hub internals.

PS, Nick Shaefer is the man for jumping right in and helping with our front axle issues.

Our next course looked somewhat simple, but proved be another kick in the face. We got about 1/2 way through and ended up timing out.. The nose of the truck would drop into a demonic trough with a protruding cement barrier perpendicular to the front bumper.. The dead driver front wheel really nailed the coffin shut, despite having the air cleaner arcing off of te coil wire into the distributor. The 3wheel drive was killing us by this point. Course #2: 38 points

Course 3 started off rough before we even got on the course. I had to talk the judges out of DQ'ing us.. Long story, they were tired and wanted to go home.. I get that, but don't screw with our points because your tired.. We started off pretty slow as it got technical right through the first gates with a tight hairpin down another 4' wall.. At an angle. We managed through, soaking up 4 mins of our 10 alloted minutes. We decided to take our time abd not rush the rest. We decide to take a cone due to catoring to the bum front wheel, and then accidentally take another cone - due to the damn dead wheel.. Then we suprise everyone and actually make it to the finish gates with 2 minutes left. Course #3: 27 points

Course #4 ran super smooth. We took a bonus line for -5 and only hit one cone. With only a few backs we managed to finish that course with 6 points. A stellar run, and more what we're used doing.

Rob is tearing into the axle to confirm exactly what we broke today on course 1 of the day. He'll have it rebuilt and ready to go unless it's something that I need to bring in from SLC in the morning.

Fingers crossed that we can continue to compete all 4 courses tomorrow. We're currently in 3rd!!!!! But, there are only 3 of us in Mod Stock ... Nonetheless we're doing the best we can with what we've got and having a great time doing it.

Course #4 ran super smooth. We took a bonus line for -5 and only hit one cone. With only a few backs we managed to finish that course with 6 points. A stellar run, and more what we're used doing..

Really, only 3 rigs in stock mod? I could have sworn I noticed more... but the more I think about it, all I can think of is that red sami thing, and the green (?) jeep.

We "won" 3rd in Modified Stock class!!!!! .... In a field of 3 rigs .. But, and there's a but - we got a better score on each course today than one of the pro teams... In your face fancy shmancy rig and "pro" team(Dean Bullock's old blue Samurai all redone and purty lookin).. Mwahaha... Our 3 wheel drive yesterday really hurt our overall score.. But we're proud of our runs despite some mistakes along the way. Like me getting nervous at the 2 minute mark and making poor judgement calls. 2 minutes is a good amount of time to make progression..

Yesterday had some amazing action for our team.. Finishing 2 courses with seconds to spare.. One course Rob had the truck air born out of the finish gate with 1 second on the clock. Our last course found us flopped over 20' from the finish gate, and nowhere to winch to.. We gave it hell.

What a freakin awesome time. And super stoked that Jacey was able to come watch!*

Hopefully we'll get to do it again in October for the Grand Nationals.

I didn't get to see any of the Flying Flandro Freakshow, since I was on the opposite side of the venue no matter where you were. And something about watching the Unlimited and ProMods on the course very closely?

I did hear several people comment on the heroic and bold driving of the Green Hell though. That brought a smile to my face every time.

2 minutes is a long time. You'll be real chill next time, its' cool. Do you get to go to Nationals in October now???

Starting out:

This gives an idea of what we're supposed to be doing... Hard left turn up this wall.

Finally conquered that SOB..

Dropping back down into the cravass and through the 2nd gate. These super tight turns up/down 4-5' ledges murder us. We need front burn in a bad way.

Can you hear the driverside 30 spline Longfield blow up?

Can't talk too much crap on the F-Toy guys anymore.. They helped us out every now and then.

We timed out with a whopping 38 points... Better than a 40! :thumbs:

Wrenchfest for the next 45mins before we have to be staged for our second course... The hub fell apart when we took it off, so we hoped that's all that it was. But, after a quick test we discovered that the D-side wheel was still not wanting to engage.. So, with a new D-side hub and a mystery break (we were all figuring it the Longfield) we are forced to hit the next three courses with only 3 powered wheels.

Course #2 Day 1

Up and over unto another 4runner eating cravass. An F-Toy had previously been stuck in there for atleast an hour with all sorts of broken parts:

Guiding Rob.. The cones lead you smack right into a perpendicular cement slap sticking up about 2 feet.

Stuck.. No forward progress is possible no matter how hard we ram the wall.. The 3 wheel drive is really killing us on this.

Not sure if the engine died, or if Rob killed it with too little clutch.. But, it wouldn't start..

The air cleaner had come loose and was creating an arc between itself and the coil wire, not allowing the truck to start. A quick zip tie fixed that. Timed out for 38 points, and we regroup for our next course..
