so I'm outside getting into the Cummins swap at long last: no rain, and a big chunk of time to work on it, yay!!! anyway I go to yank the front clip off, and when I took the wheels off (first time since I bought it, no real reason to until now), I saw the horrible bad thing:

WELDED HUBS!!!!! yes, someone stick-welded the hub and flange, like it had been cracked or something. That makes me incredibly nervous. Yes, it's held up so far... but there is a fair amount of crud on there right now, so they may still be cracked. Didn't even chip the slag/splatter off. :(

anyway if you've got cheap dually hubs, please let me know. I don't need the added expense of this BS. :(

here's a couple pics. It looks worse in person, but my camera skillz aren't that hot LOL

driver's side, lots of splatter... about half of this hub has the factory weld, which is nice, neat, clean, etc.

passenger side, which is pretty ugly.

I'm thinking those scary welds are factory. I turned down a set of dually hubs in a lathe to make single wheel hubs out of 'em, and they looked like that--complete with spatter.

You can tell more in person than I can from the pics though--if you say they're aftermarket welds, I'll believe you. :)
