I also have any stock first gen stuff you would ever need, if you feel like taking a drive...

Thanks :D That is a long drive but I'll keep it in mind.

If I can get this pile together in time we are going to make a run on the 9-12th up to some private land in Bone Id. then over to Alpine WY and up the Greys River road and pop out near Montpillar if your interested. 3 or 4 days of camping, exploring and fun you (or anyone else interested) should join in :greg:

Oh man, I used to hunt up in the Grey's River area. That is some beautiful country. Have a blast. Truck looks like it's coming along nicely. Bummer the junk yard guy wanted so much for the doors.

I dont know what scrap yard you went to but Howard's, west of Logan has a
83ish 2wd truck. He's usually pretty fair. Might have some body parts for you. They even picked it up with the skid stear so I could get some parts off under the truck.

Sweet project! I've had my Toyota since I was 16 too and would defiantly spend twice as much money to keep it going, rather than buy a new one.

Why not just grab a stock parking break from an IFS truck? It will fit your axle and cost MUCH less. I got mine for about $25. They're exactly the same, just three inches wider.

I recommend locating a replacement bed. Those Yota's have cool body lines and it would be a shame to get rid of them by making a custom flatbed.

Ya I really can't see myself owning a different Toyota pickup unless it was four door Tacoma :D

I really thought about the factory park brake stuff, but I shaved all the supports off of my current axle, and I just don't have time to get it all together in time for my trip...

Well I made some more progress. The fender flares bring the suck, but they hopefully will pass. For some reason I'm super paranoid that it won't pass inspection--I don't know why as I think I have everything up to par :-\

The law states that both bumpers need to be 4.5" tall (without any open space or holes) out to the center of both tires. I made mine 5" tall out to the brake lights but I'm conserned with the outer ends... Do you think I will be okay? Or should I plate the sides somehow? I really hope it will pass as is but we'll see I guess.

I also ordered up an Allpro park brake kit :greg: I've wanted one for awhile but never really wanted to fork out the cash untill now!

I need to install the brake disk, install one rear marker light, and find or horn button then I should be good to go. Wish me luck!!!

Just a warning to any buyers.. He's tough to deal with.

Funny I was thinking the same thing. I PM'ed that dude the day he posted it here... He did PM back, but never really answered any of my questions.... I think I'll pass on that one :D

I sceduled an appointment for 11:00 AM tomorrow morning wish me luck!!! If it passes I will have to have that dude from the State come up and look it over. If he is okay with it then I can get it licenced woo hoo!

Anyway I took it for a test drive today and realized that I still have a ton of work to do. My syncro in third is completely wiped out and first is not far behind. I ran Poison Spider-Gold Bar Rim-Gold Spike without a clutch twice  and the last Moab trip I did Hell's Revenge without a clutch in the middle of the night--which brings me to my next point: DON'T EVER attempt escalator at night without a clutch and don't ever fall for the "lifetime warrantee" junk :ugh: ) The trans is really my only complaint now and I have a good W56 so that swap will be my next project. It will be a great time to install another case in front of my 4.7's and get a decent crossmember.

Park brake is in and works awesome and the CB is in again and working too. the ol' 20R is still running great, but its getting weak and I'm sure the timing chain is barely holding on. I keep thinking about how nice a 2RZ or 3RZ swap would be :greg:

Looking good. If you did not know the W56 is about 5" longer than the L52. I don't know what you have but I had issues not knowing this before I started. When I swap mine out, my sticks will have to move back and I plan on putting in a doubler. I have an ammo can mounted between the seats and I'm hoping the second case is not going to sit that far back. I would like to see how yours turns out.
