Opinions GM 5.3L V8

Totally Awesome
So, help me out here, I've been liking the 6.2L diesel a lot, except the damn starter has broken again. and it doesn't like to start when its below 40.

luckily i have a 700R4, I'd like to keep it. Will the 5.3 bolt up to the 700R4?

I think the 5.3L is a good motor, and I'd probably get decent mileage out of it. It sure as hell would run a lot quieter. My exhaust would almost bolt up to my current system. Parts would still be super cheap.

Yes, it will bolt up provided you have the spacer for your torque convertor and the flexplate is drilled to mount on the 5.3.... you can buy a kit with those parts, too. Last time I checked they were about $150.

Obviously you'll need to address the TV cable for the 700R4, there are kits out there to adapt the TV to the 5.3 as well. BowTie Overdrives makes the best kit I've heard of. - http://www.tvmadeez.com/ls1_cam/

@moabmark on here is your manual valve body expert. He’s running one in his scrambler with an LS3 and runs it hard.

Mark???
I ran a full manual valve body behind my 360 it was the Chrysler tranny I don't remember the number three speed and I've been running one behind my LS which is a 4L80E and they work perfectly never had any problems. Lots of people are running full manual valve bodies.

Besides the spacer there is one bolt on top of the tranny that won't line up with the 5.3, LS style block. Not a biggie. I love that motor.
