Opinons on a trailer... Need help with this consideration...

So I have been borrowing a trailer from a good friend. I use it way more than he does and I feel bad. I try hard to take good care of it and every time I use it I come bringing gifts etc. I need a trailer and have been looking. Right now I have a 72 Blazer I wheel and a 85 CJ. Hauling both would be great or better yet looking at a camper/hauler as well. I need a trailer...

So I find a 2009 3 axle Big Bubba Bumper Pull Trailer. The trailer looks to be in great shape with brakes etc. I will be hauling it behind my 3/4 dodge mega cab.

What is a good price? Also the deck of the deck is 26' with 2" dovetail. Will the trailer be just huge and a pain to get around with? I mainly head to moab every year and a few trip to mountains. I would look at putting a pop up tent camper on the front. Can it happen?

Anyone with experience with this set up chime in and let me know pros cons etc...

Thanks

What is a good price for me the buyer? He has it for $4500 obo. I am considering offering him $3500...

My bumper pull is 20' of deck and 2' of dove. I hardly notice it. My axles are pretty far back as well. You just get used to it. I wouldnt worry.

Comments from those with 3 axle trailers? good, bad? (I need to either upgrade my axles, or add a 3rd.)

But to the OP, Im not sure on price. (Did MBryson sell his? I really liked that trailer!)

If you are really worried about pulling a long trailer, get a gooseneck, I pull both a 28' bumper pull and a goose with a 31' deck, the goose pulls so much better with the tongue weight put forward of the rear axle. Even with the goose being longer i take it Evey time over the pumper pull.
I know you will have the expense of adding a ball in the bed but it is worth it. for me its where to park it when not in use because of its length

I had a 26' deck bumper pull. I really liked it to haul two rigs. It was big enough to do that yet small enough not to be a huge pain to maneuver around. I would buy one again.

$4500 is a good price for something new and clean and ready-to-use. $3500 would be a great price. I see a lot of homemade junk selling for that price.

When I looked at a triple axle trailer I was told that I would be happier with a dual axle trailer. The reason was I was looking for a triple that could haul 18,000 to 21,000 lbs. I was told that with that much weight I stood a good chance of breaking one of the spindles off one of the axles while turning tight corners. The tires scrub bad and when you have single tires on lighter duty axles with weight something has to give way. After I was told that I went home and started researching that. Although not as common as I was told it can happen. I suspect a tag trailer would not have as much of a chance of this happening as a goose neck does.

For hauling something as light as a Blazer or a Jeep I would look for something that has just two axles. Less tires to replace, but with the three axles you can have more room to shift the weight fore and aft to get the weight exactly where you want it. You may also get more mileage out of a set of tires with three axles instead of two. Personally, I don't mind having a big trailer. It always seems like you cannot have too big of a trailer.
