I have been following this for quite a while but at a glance. I sat down this morning and tried to figure out a couple of things because the tech wasn't making much sense as far as how the flow of the motor worked regarding how the intake/exhaust gas would flow. This article from Automobile Magazine finally explained a few things and it is quite clever how it all works. The prototype is diesel but they are working on a gas version that presents some engineering hurdles as far as spark delivery which is being overcome through a pre-combustion chamber and plasma ignition...pretty crazy stuff.
The article is several pages long and gets into the meat on about the third page http://www.automobilemag.com/green/news/0912_two_stroke_engines_expected_revival/index.html

These guys are shooting for full market implementation in three years with some hefty investing from guys like Bill Gates. Their market plan is quite ingenious too.
