Our yard remodel

This is an ambitious front/back yard remodel including, sprinkler system, sod, trees, pergolas, patio, water feature, bla, bla, bla....

Here's what we started with in the backyard. It seems as though someone started to shape the yard maybe 5-10 years ago but stopped. There is a 2' rock wall about 12' from the back(north) of the house that creates two levels. In most of the before photos, you can't even see the wall.

Can you locate the 2' rock wall?

I'm picking up 8-10 quaking aspens today from a guy in Draper. He's got some great prices, 15' $50, clusters for $30, 5' $6... So i'm getting atleast 5ea 50', and 3ea clusters, and may grab a few of the 5'ers. The 15'ers will run along the west fence, two clusters on the north fence, and one on the east.

I'll be at Home Depot during lunch breaks this week pricing out lumber/bolts/nuts/screws for the pergolas, and the sprinkler system. My goal is to have all of that stuff purchased no later that this Friday.. Also stuff like cement, pavers, maybe gravel, weed block, and some plants.

I've got a cool idea for a water feature, but may keep that a secret until it happens...

Why keep it a secret, there might be guys on here that could offer ideas on how to do it best :)

Nice project, that'll be nice once it's done. Are you getting rid of that dog run thing too?

I said 'may' Brett, so don't get yer panties in a bunch. ;) The dog run will be tucked into the NE corner on a concrete pad.

Tracy, I'll certainly be asking some questions along the way. If I have anything pressing and need a pro's advice i'll call you. :)

Quacking aspen.

Come get that wire for the sprinklers when you have a chance.

You got me..

I was planning to call you about the today. You gonna be home later tonight, or tomorrow evening?

Quakies and a desire for a good looking lawn don't go well together. Just FYI.

I've heard that quakies aren't bad, but the poppler aspens are bad for that. Several of my neighbors all have aspens and their lawns look great. FYI. :)

Haha, I knew it looked familiar.. We bought out their look when they went out of business. I hate you..

It's interesting how some completely hate aspens and claim they'll ruin the yard/lawn, yet others that I know that have them say they're just fine.. Besides, my neighbor to the west has 4-5 of them, and there aren't any in my yard. I've heard that the poplar aspen will bring the suck, but that quakies are not nuisances like the poplars. I'm just going on what people say with this, but I lean to put more trust into the neighbors who have several in their yards..

I certainly don't want to buy 10 of a tree that's going to bring the suck... Tracy, what say ye? ;)

Isn't it just the female trees that spawn the little trees? (I mean, obviously you need male/female to make baby trees ;) but it's the females that essentially cause the trouble... so true on many levels) but If you buy the male trees you don't get trees popping up all over the place.
