painting over powdercoating?

I bought a Smittybilt bumper at the Jeep expo in moab. The only problem is its a silver powdercoat. I want to paint it black. If i were to roughen the podercoat up could I just paint over it?

Anyone had experience with it?

Should just have to scratch it up with the Grey Scotch Bright pads.

I never even bother to do that. Just primer and paint. Well clean it first.

Scuff it, wipe it down and then rattlecan with Rustoleum Gloss Black, remember........3-4 light coats will give you a much better finish than 2 heavy ones. Spray all the cracks and corners with a light coat first, let it tack before beginning your 2nd coat. This will minimize the potential for runs.......also not eating at Beto's the night before, will net similar results.
